When you are contemplating about going in for a rebuilt automatic transmission for your Ford, is it important to replace your six speed automatic transmission with a rebuilt automatic transmission having the same number of gears? Would it be unwise to go in for a four speed or five- speed rebuilt automatic transmission instead?
Any car having automatic transmission consisting of more gears offers better performance in terms of power and fuel economy. Consequently, getting a six speed rebuilt automatic transmission for your Ford is always a better option than a four speed or five speed transmission. Downgrading the number of gears from six to five or four is not advisable on two counts:
- One, you would be making unnecessary changes in the design of your vehicle. A Ford that is manufactured with a six speed automatic transmission will not work very well with a four speed or five speed transmission.
- Secondly, there is no point in throwing away the advantages of better performance and fuel economy given to you by your car manufacturer.
